Founder
System Change Strategies was founded by Sophia Borchert, a political strategist committed to advancing progressive, democratic change.
​
Sophia’s work is based in the belief that political action is one of the most powerful tools to shape more just and livable societies, and change the systems we live in on a fundamental level.
Throughout her career, she has focused on strengthening democratic institutions, expanding rights, and supporting political processes that enable broader participation.
​
She studied Sociology and Gender Studies, grounding her work in a structural understanding of power, inequality, and social transformation.
Before founding System Change Strategies, Sophia worked for several years in the European Parliament, where she served as a political advisor supporting senior leadership on legislative strategy, political negotiations, and coalition building.
​
Alongside her political work, she is formally trained as a systemic coach and psychological advisor, with a particular focus on burnout prevention.
This dual background informs the organisation’s approach to political strategy, recognising that sustainable change requires both strong strategies and resilient people.
